Con 5000 libros, algunos impresos en 1588 y años siguientes, especializados
en Historia
y Geografía nacionales, la colección incluye también
ediciones modernas.
Atiende diariamente a los investigadores y estudiantes; los primeros
interesados sobre
todo en los documentos virreinales y los segundos en busca de información
sobre
Historia y Geografía.

Compuesta por cartas geográficas y planos que superan los 2.000
ejemplares.
Con cartas geográficas desde el período virreinal, incluyendo
las de las misiones
jesuíticas, de la Audiencia de Charcas y otras, hasta los primeros
mapas republicanos y
los últimamente editados por el Instituto Geográfico Militar.
La Casa posee un gran fondo de planos de ciudades antiguas y modernas
así como
de edificios y monumentos sumando un total de 1500 piezas.
ARCHIVO HISTÓRICO
El Fondo del Archivo Histórico, con 1300 documentos,
conserva papeles que datan desde 1535 hasta 1980.

Library
A rich library specialized in history and geography is kept in “Casa
de la Libertad”. Most of these possessions belong to the Sucre
Geographic and Historical Society, founded in 1886, which collected and
acquired them during many decades. This prestigious and meritorious society
was entrusted with the conservation and custody of the “Casa de
la Libertad” by Supreme Decree of 25 November, 1939, until 1974,
when by Supreme Decree of November 25, the Museum was entrusted to the
Central Bank of Bolivia, which assumed responsibility for the refurbishing
and care of the Museum and supervision of its personnel. Was entrusted
to the Central Bank of Bolivia for custody and administration in 1983
by Supreme Decree of August 3, enacted into law on February 5, 1986.
The library catalogue and the pamphlets catologue are available only
in spanish.
Map Archive
Over 2.000 maps and blue prints, from Viceroyal period, including maps
of the jesuit missions, Charcas` Hearing, thru republican and contemporary
maps edited by the Bolivian Militar Geographic Institute.
